St Edward the Confessor

On Sunday, 24 July 2011 I attended mass at St Edward the Confessor in Clifton Park, NY on the way home from Berkshire. The building is sort of industrial chic. It is functional and pleasant.

The main reason was to meet Fran, a long time blogger friend, for the first time in person. We did lunch and probably could have talked all day and all night but she had plans and I needed to get home. I hope we can get together again!!!

Grace on the journey

Kirstin has made the ultimate choice. Her blog entry and all that precedes it at Barefoot and Laughing is well worth reading. Over and over. Especially if facing cancer or dealing with a loved one with it.

Kirstin is my heroine.

RIP Roseann Allen-Matthews

Roseann went peacefully without pain to the other side Saturday night after a valiant fight for life. She had to wait too long for a kidney transplant. Many of us have traveled the long journey to this place and marveled at her determination, endurance and, in the end, amazing grace. Our prayers are with Gary and those who now have a huge hole in our lives. I suspect she would tell us to get over it and get on with life.

Bland funeral, St Paul's, Weston, WV

A rather grey, rainy day in Weston, WV to send George Bland home to Godde.
A piper accompanied the casket and pall bearers.
Ann read the first lesson and led the psalm.
Janis read the second lesson.
St Paul's is a pleasant, rather simply decorated church.
The painting on the right and the Stations of the Cross were all created by George and donated to the church.

I tried to capture the incense but it is far too blurry to blog. It was a lovely mostly Rite I service - some of us weren't always looking at the BCP. I suspect George smiled.

Blogger gathering

Allie tried to make eyeballs out of olives and pearl onions but quickly decided it wasn't worth the effort. We did get a pot of beans with three eyes tho.

She also made this root veggie stew which was wonderful. Those who missed the gathering missed great food and conversation.

I'm not really into identifying people online. Let's just say Shelley, Allie, Kristen, Matthew, Elaine, Paul and Catherine enjoyed the food and each others' company.

The Terrific Team Trivia Team

What do you think?
We're sure of that answer.
I think it is...
I hope we win again.
Susan and Lisa invited me to join them for pizza and Team Trivia at the Blue Moon Cafe in Marietta, GA. The pizza was excellent. The people are wonderful and fun. The trivia went from simple to Huh? This team won last week and had a 50 gift certificate to spend. Made the evening even better. Now they have another one. I didn't contribute much but the others have excellent memories for useless stuff. Thanks for including me.

Fire comes very close

Fires in Australia are killing people as well as destroying property. One came too close to our friend Alcibiades for comfort. He hasn't blogged about it but he told us he is ok in the comments on OCICBW.

If you are so inclined, please pray for rain for the Australians, do a rain dance or implore the rain gods in any method you think might work.
