With some new cheap boots to wear - gotta save the Muck boots for serious work - I braved the mud and cinders of the "tracks" for a mile and a half walk.
If you look closely, you can see a couple of light spots which were rather obviously beaver felled trees. I had to investigate.
If you look closely you can see that the nearer tree was a successful fall but the farther one was not. Why not? None of it fell in the water and much more work will be needed before any of it is transportable or edible.
The dam is in the same pond but several hundred feet to the left of the photo above.
The dam that has the pond higher than it has been in years is even farther up the tracks. The following three photos are of the dam. It is maybe 15 feet wide and now 6 feet tall. They have worked on this for years. When the pond gets too high, the neighbors poke holes in it. For that reason I wonder how long the beavers will be able to use this ledge.
This is the outlet to the lake. Water always seeps thru under the tracks.
This photo of two geese was taken just to the right of the previous photo. I need to watch for the geese and chase them off the yard. Our annual battle is beginning too early this year.
I'm pleasantly surprised that the daffys don't have squared off leaves from the frosts. These are very close to the house. the ones in the yard have yet to poke their leaves above the surface. Probably wise.
For Margaret and Joel who are true disciples ministering to the people on the poorest Native American reservation in the US. And especially for Margaret who has more funerals in a month than most priests have in several years. And thanks for allowing the children to call her Grandma. She is the best possible person/priest in her position. For Peg and Jim. For all those who believe that guns can solve our problems. For our dysfunctional Congress. For Christ Church Meadville. For R and D especially for R. For me. For Ward. For Bro John. For Jim, especially. For those in the church who are distressed. For A as she deals with dysfunction. For Ginny. For Amelia. For Julie Anne. For Danny. For Amy. For J's mom. For Art and Mary. For rain in California. For Jeri. For Caleb and those who research RA. For J and D. For Tim and Ruth. For Ted. For VC and N. For Lee. For S and P.
