All grown up

This is not a cat, in case you hadn't noticed. This is one of the wee ones I saw a few months back now all grown up, curious and not afraid. Guess I need to get the traps going again. And maybe buy my own 22?

Raccoon mess

While I was gone, the raccoons tore everything apart. The dishes were on the ground too but I picked them up to feed the cats. The blue thing is the litterbox. There is litter stuff everywhere. Forgot to set the traps tonight but will do it tomorrow.

Too many...

Perhaps I have too many bird feeders. One oilseed and one safflower plus a suet one between the house and the barn.

Two oilseed out in the yard.

Three oilseed, two thistle and two suet on the "clothesline" which is why the post/flagpole bends toward the house. Plus the heated birdbath just out of the picture on the left below.

Not to mention cat food on three levels on the cathouse and in the barn and three litterboxes. Hmmm. (The last photo is embiggenable.)

Friday cat blogging and much more

PuddyTat says, "Good morning!" to Tommie.

The neighbors have two bunnies. The one in back is very furry. The black and white one is lop eared. The near one is quite friendly, the other easily scared.

The clouds this year have been very interesting. I love the Hartstown Swamp especially when the water plants begin to turn red which usually precedes the trees. This is on the north side of 322, the others to the south. They are embiggenable.

Unwelcome daytime visitor

I do not like seeing raccoons and skunks and opossums out and about during the daytime. I always suspect rabies. I assume that this is the same raccoon who has been eating the catfood for the last couple of days if not longer. S/he has an insatiable appetite. The critter will deprive my cats of food this week while I'm gone. I am not happy about that. I could try to trap it but I don't know if the one I trap is the one who comes during the daytime. I hate to ask my neighbor to feed the cats twice a day but I will leave a note requesting she do that when she can. The critter sure chose an inconvenient week to appear. I pray it isn't rabid, just smart.

It was on the cathouse roof and descended when I appeared at the door.

It paused to make sure I was still watching before waddling off only to return again within a couple of minutes. It will stay until it has eaten all the catfood available. The cats just lie around and watch.

Friday not cat blogging

There are at least three of these critters. I don't mind their eating the catfood. I do mind when they throw things about. I need to get the trap out and either give them a new home or have my neighbor "take care" of them.

The are getting too comfortable. They were fewer than 6 feet from me. The last was much closer.

Great picture isn't it? They had to build the animals their own crossing (especially the elk) because that was where the natural crossing was and after the highway was built there were far too many accidents.

It didn't take the animals long to learn that this was their very own bridge!
And then you have some people saying 'Animals are stupid.'

Not a cat

A raccoon had this unhappy critter cornered on the cathouse roof. The raccoon took one look at me and decided it was time to leave. Possums being possums, s/he didn't try to escape but played possum - froze and hissed when I opened the window. The cats came to eat and ignored the possum who retreated even further into the corner. Eventually they finished and wandered off and the critter left.

In the clover

The groundhog is enjoying the clover in the jungle between the house and the barn. I can't mow it because there are large rocks and roots in the dirt. My string trimmer isn't strong enough to deal with the weeds that thrive there. Most of the plants are taller than my waist. I have a path to the feeders but that's it. I've asked my neighbor to think about plowing it for me. He's too busy for now. Maybe in fall, I hope. (Photo taken thru the window.)

The other hungry one

This one visits every evening and eats whatever the cats leave. S/He is quite bold and comes over to look in the kitchen.

I worry about Hildy

Ours are about the same size but they don't come to say Hello like Hildy did.
