RIP Tommie

This was battered, very male Tommie in better days. Lately he has had a respiratory problem that got steadily worse and noisier. Unfortunately he had never been handled. Tho he always wanted my attention since he has been sick, he wouldn't allow me to pick him up. Today I came home to find him on the ground under the cathouse, still warm but lifeless. I'm so glad his suffering is over! I'm glad he was home so I know what happened to him. I'm not good at grieving but I am a little tearful. Weird. Surprising. RIP old man.

I know you will miss him very much. They add so much to our lives just by hanging around with us. He certainly had a lovely round cat face with a "mane." I don't know that much about cats, having lived with only a few, but I now can see from the photo that Tommie was, indeed, a very male cat.

I am sorry to read of Tommie's passing ... I was going to write "your loss" and then I realized that Tommie probably never thought of himself as "yours".

It's so much better when we at least know they are gone, not just disappeared.

Tommie was never my cat. He'd disappear for days on end during breeding seasons then reappear bloody and exhausted to eat and sleep until strong enough to go again. He was covered with scars from his battles. He would never let me touch him until he started to get sick. Lately he has wanted every bit of attention I could give him. For that I miss him. The others seems to have adjusted tho LittleOne is extremely skittish and disappears when he sees me. I have no idea what happened to make him that way. He used to be the one who couldn't get enough loving. Cats will be cats. And, yes, they are not "ours".

Blessings on the spirit of Tommie. May he rest in peace. He had some attachment to you if he chose your place at the end of his life. He knew you cared for him.

I am sorry for your loss, Shel, and for the loss of some others in the cat clan who live with/because of you. Tommie did have an "old warrior" look about him. I hope he didn't suffer terribly. And I hope more kitties will join the clan--they have so much to gain, and they give, too.

Just now got caught up to this one. You gave him a longer life than he would have otherwise, Shelly. Good on ya.
