Not a cat

A raccoon had this unhappy critter cornered on the cathouse roof. The raccoon took one look at me and decided it was time to leave. Possums being possums, s/he didn't try to escape but played possum - froze and hissed when I opened the window. The cats came to eat and ignored the possum who retreated even further into the corner. Eventually they finished and wandered off and the critter left.

Hey, you could put those "Lost cat" signs up like that one that was all over the Internet! LOL

Possums are ugly creatures, aren't they? The face on this one reminds me of the Joker in Batman.

I suppose other possums think this one is cute. Not one of Godde's prettier creatures in my eyes however. And certainly not one of the sweeter either. Hisssssss.

Back when my father-in-law kept about 56 ferral cats, he invited me to peek out his front door where about 20 of his cats were chowing down on the porch, arranged around a huge round pan like so many spokes around a hub.

"Notice anything funny about that one cat's tail?"

It was long and ratlike...and it wasn't attached to a cat at all, but to a possum.

When I had a feeder station outside I had possums, raccoons and skunks visiting the buffet table. Critters are fascinating!
