Glad I'm not RC

Pope Benedict XVI has forgiven and reinstated four breakaway bishops. You can read Time Magazine's article here. One of those denies the Holocaust ever happened. It is one thing to forgive. It is another to allow these men to preach their hatred, prejudice, ignorance. Is his church so desperate for clergy that he must resort to this utter lack of conscience?

I don't know where this man is living but it is not in the 21st century. Will someone please tell him that the first world has moved beyond him and the rest of the world will follow eventually making his office irrelevant. Of course, many of us believe that already. How long will it take for most of his flock to agree? Those wheels grind slowly but they do grind.

Without meaning to pick on my RC brothers and sisters what on earth is their church bureacracy thinking? It's been a very strange "interim" papacy. Again without wishing any ill I wonder how long this pope will live? And what else he's going to do?

Most of the RCs I know love their church and ignore the pope and that goes back for decades. B16 is a disaster by any measure.

I often wonder why the many good RC's don't rise up against their leadership about such things. I guess most just get tired of it and become lapsed RC's, or just join TEC.

When B16 came in, I searched the Internet in vain, looking for some interview in which he repudiated the Nazis and his part in the youth movement. I searched in vain. I've been very leery of him ever since.
