Bland funeral, St Paul's, Weston, WV

A rather grey, rainy day in Weston, WV to send George Bland home to Godde.
A piper accompanied the casket and pall bearers.
Ann read the first lesson and led the psalm.
Janis read the second lesson.
St Paul's is a pleasant, rather simply decorated church.
The painting on the right and the Stations of the Cross were all created by George and donated to the church.

I tried to capture the incense but it is far too blurry to blog. It was a lovely mostly Rite I service - some of us weren't always looking at the BCP. I suspect George smiled.

Many prayers for Janis and all those who loved George. I prayed for her during the funeral for Rev. Jim Jensen in Utica.

I'm sure Dad was smiling.

But what the F*** is my hair doing?! Sheesh.

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention: Dad designed the St. George and the Dragon stained glass window, which you may note have noticed. It was the last on the right as you would have exited the church from the rear.

He was certainly an institution there. When he and Mom retired from the choir, they had about 100 years service between them. Bless Mom, no one wants to hear her sing now. :)

I thought about taking more photos but decided I should get back on the road. The windows really are beautiful.

I'm surprised the photos turned out as well as they did. You saw where I was sitting. And without flash.
