Pristine again

This is the view out my front door off and on today. I need to use the ladder as the satellite dish is snow covered and won't transmit CNBC. I can get MSNBC and don't understand why. Weird.

Tuesday cat blogging

Sunday the box held a two headed cat.
This morning, PuddyTat reclaimed her box. I don't know if she will stay. It is the first time she has been on the cathouse roof in a couple of months. Her box below is probably pretty filthy. I can't get to it without tearing the cover apart. I need to check into that tho.
Meanwhile this sign caught my eye Sunday. Had to post it for my family - long time dachsy people.

More Friday cat blogging

Trying to take photos thru a glass door at night by the light of a yellow bug light is not easy. Can't use the flash. This large cat is new to me. Bold and probably tame or else starving - nah, too fat - because he came within four feet of the door to eat.
Jellico didn't like that idea at all. This is the beginning of a cat fight that didn't last long. The new cat skedaddled under the shelter across the door from the cathouse. It ran when I opened the door.

Friday cat blogging

Photos collected during the week.

Little One is lying under the big bird feeder hoping for a protein supplement. As far as I know she was unsuccessful.
Tim is now coming to the cathouse to eat on PuddyTat's level. I'm happy about that as I'd like to remove the food from the garage. I don't mind the possum but I definitely don't want the coons.
Tim checks out the night action under one of the feeders from my bedroom windowsill.
Jellico finally reappeared this week.

Twelve Angels Waltz is on the polka CD. The bands aren't easily identified which is why I never list them.

Breaking news

Dude seems to think Little One is a female in heat and Little One doesn't seem to resist. Hmm. Wonder what it is on the rear of Little One that convinced the vet and me she was a he. I thought her head was awfully small for a male. Oh well, wonder if I can catch her for an abortion... Or anyone want a darling little kitten?

Friday cat blogging on Sunday

This was not a sight I wanted to see this morning. I worry when night critters are out during daylight. It wasn't as light as the photo however. I don't know if it was the same possum that was in the garage last night. Seemed smaller. I watched that it didn't enter the garage. It went over to the neighbors.
I don't want to have to close the garage at night and am thinking that Tim may have to come to the cathouse to eat. I don't need critters in the garage. I don't mind the possums but I REALLY mind the raccoons, none of which I've seen so far. They do too much damage. I may remove all the food that Tim doesn't eat before I go to bed. If she gets hungry during the night she can come to the cathouse.

Now that Little One has sought Dude's company, he has made it possible to give him medicine for his eye again. This is how I do it. The box Dudie is in had a thin blanket so I put a nice thick towel in it for him. Little One still would prefer to snuggle with Dude but is not welcome. Dude just moves.
Meanwhile yesterday Tim ventured out of the garage for awhile and investigated everything. She jumped up to the cathouse roof for the first time in probably a month or so. Here she is asking for a scritch. I think she is lonely since Tommie has gone elsewhere and Little One has joined Dude. PuddyTat is still staying in her box so far.
Tim decided to try my bedroom windowsill for awhile. I should put the screen up so she has a little more room. Before the siding my windowsills were wide and frequent perches for the cats.
The white thing is my remote thermometer. It quit working last week which required an internet search to get going again. I rely on it to decide whether to give the cats heat. The little one visible in the first photo is neither accurate nor easy to read from the house.

Friday cat blogging on Saturday

Little One is out and about today. He pushed his way into Dude's box. This didn't last long. Dude moved out onto the green blanket next to the window. The photo is a bit deceiving but, yes, Little One does have a much smaller head than any of the other boys. I don't know enough about kittens to know if that will change. He isn't a year old yet. He has a very long body with a tail to match. He allows me to scritch and stroke him again. I heard him purr for the first time this morning.

Dude has been out and about the last couple of days. From his bloody pawprints, he seems to go to the garage and back.

Sunset on a rare sunny January day

Hopefully tomorrow those icicles will be gone.

I've been following the Prop 8 trial via Prop8trialtracker, Firedoglake and 365Gay. Interesting enough to be more addictive than Facebook.

Neighborhood snow photos

The marina doesn't look very hospitable today.

This is where everyone sleds. It is VERY steep. The face of the dam - on the right, has a fierce BUMP on the way down. I seem to remember that there is a second bump farther down but many don't make it that far.
The evergreens are special this year.
I love the snowy branches.

Our bay.

This looks like a Christmas card photo.
Across the pond toward my house and barn.
For all the inconvenience, worries about heat and ice, iffy driving, tough walking and other problems typical of this weather, our world has been absolutely gorgeous so far this winter.

Misc weather blogging

The heavy snow collapsed part of the red, despicable hedge.
I suppose a bird could sneak under the snow to get into the bluebird house for shelter.
The junco doesn't need snowshoes.

More Friday cat blogging

PuddyTat in her box.
Little One on the cathouse roof which has become Dude's personal space. Dudie doesn't look pleased and LO looks apprehensive.
Dudie inspects the control for his heating pad.

Ice

Great year for ice. Lousy year for roof.

Friday cat blogging

Tom headed for a sniff but Tim discouraged him.
Tom and PuddyTat are watched by Little One.
Little One is getting to be a big boy. He also seems healthy now with fewer fleas for some reason. He seems to have a very feminine head for a boy cat.
